Lamborghini Huracan vs. Ferrari 488 Spider
The rivalry between Ferrari and Lamborghini has always been an open fight. It’s one of the all-time classic duels pitting rivals against each other, such as Beatles against the Rolling Stones in the music world, in the world of automobiles, the Bull has always challenged the Prancing Horse.
The challenge: Lamborghini or Ferrari
Both the Lamborghini Huracan and the Ferrari 488 Spider are dream cars. Produced by massively respected car-manufacturers, with great attention to details.

The Lamborghini Huracan Spyder
Canvas top comes in three colours, black, brown and red. It opens and closes in merely 17 seconds, whilst travelling at speeds up to 50 km/h. In addition, the driver can activate the windshield rear window.
Ferrari 488 Spider
The Ferrari 488 Spider has a retractable top, which opens and closes in just 14 seconds. Its shapes are sinuous and its line is “aggressive”. It has no noticeable variances in performance compared to the GTB, which is fitted with the same V8 twin-turbo with 669 hp. The aerodynamic solutions are those of the “Cavallino Rosso”, with an electronic control flap under the car and air blown onto the rear spoiler, a Ferrari patent.
The Engine
The Lamborghini has a 5200 cc, ten-cylinder engine while the Ferrari has 3900 cc with eight cylinders. So everything would seem to point in the Lamborghini’s favour, except for the fact that the Ferrari has two turbochargers.
Lastly, the Prancing Horse has better torque, with its 670 hp and 760 Nm, against the Huracan’s 610 hp and 560 Nm torque.
Performance
Based on what we’ve seen, engine power favours the Ferrari 488 Spider, on its weight-to-power ratio. In fact, the Ferrari has 2.12 kg/hp while Lamborghini reaches 2.53 kg/hp.
This is not an insignificant gap. Given this data, as it’s easy to guess, performance changes as well. Indeed, Lamborghini accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, while Ferrari does it in just 3.0 seconds.
Even the cars’ maximum speed are similar. But Ferrari beats Lamborghini, with 325 km/h against the Huracan’s 324 km/h.
Folding or retractable top
The Lamborghini Huracan Spyder has a folding fabric roof, while Ferrari has preferred a retractable hard top. The second is lighter than a fabric roof. But the difference is made by the retraction mechanism’s time. For the Lamborghini, it takes 17 seconds, while the Ferrari does it in 14 seconds.
Conclusions
Judging the individual aspects of the car, the Ferrari performs better. But for us, it would still be a difficult choice.
