Hero Glamour FI: All You Need To Know
With the advent of Glamour FI, the manufacturer has spruced up the otherwise dull 125cc commuter bike segment. Therefore, not only does the Glamour FI is a welcome addition to the dull space, but it also comes with the bulletproof reliability of the brand.
The Glamour FI, then, is perhaps the most glamorous motorcycle in this space. Helping the cause is longer and sharp-faced front headlamp that’s flanked by eyebrow-like stickers. The alloy wheels look great. Even the long and voluptuous tank matches the bike’s style and character.
But there’s a catch. Every product has its weaknesses, and the Glamour FI’s weakness, wait for it, is the price. In an economic market, the high asking price does sound like a deterrent for the Glamour. And considering the fuel-injection technology is the future (for the BS-VI compliance, of course), it’s here to stay. So, here’s a lowdown of what lies beneath the Glamour FI.
Engine
The biggest change from the standard Glamour is, of course, the fuel-injection system. The single-cylinder 124.7cc engine is good for 11.5bhp of peak power and 11Nm of torque. It is mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. As expected, the on-paper figures have seen a slight bump upon fuel-injection. And it feels quick off the line too. The throttle response is beefy and the bike pulls up in the city with ease. On the highway, though, the omission of a fifth gear is a sore miss.
Specifications
Since it is closely matched with the Glamour in terms of styling and design, the dimensions are exactly the same. Therefore, the Hero Glamour FI is 2,005mm in length, 735mm in width, 1,070mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 150mm and a kerb weight of 129kg. Moreover, the wheelbase stands at 1,265mm.
Fuel tank capacity
With an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 72km/l and a fuel tank capacity of 12-litres, the Glamour FI is the one to take for long city overhauls.
Mechanical parts
Hero has tuned the suspension and chassis in such a way, the bike feels planted as well as easily flickable in and out of traffic. This balance comes in the form of telescopic forks at the front and adjustable shocks at the back. The soft setup ensures riding in the city is a breeze. The chassis, on that matter, is based on a tubular double-cradle frame. As for the rubber, the bike comes with an 80/100-18 front tyre and a 90/90-18 rear tyre. For braking, a 240mm disc is used at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear.
Features
In terms of features, the Glamour FI, as the price indicates, does not come with any fancy electronics or features. The instrument cluster is a part-digital unit with an analogue speedometer and a digital readout for various other essential information. The tachometer, however, is a sore miss. For safety, Glamour FI comes with CBS – or IBS, as Hero calls it – as standard. The headlamp is a halogen-powered unit, while the taillamp is an LED.
Colours
You can grab the Glamour FI in three different colours: Candy Blazing Red, Techno Blue, and Black with Sports Red. Surprisingly, though, all the shades are dual-tone in nature.
